I visited the Tübingen chocolART Chocolate Festival for the first time last year and loved it. Pralines, artisanal chocolate barks and thick mugs of piping hot melted chocolate – what’s not to love?
My Mom is currently visiting me from Canada and I wanted to take her to this year’s chocolate festival. Fortunately the festival runs from December 1-6, exactly during my Mom’s visit, so the timing worked out perfectly.
We took the train to Tübingen and made our way to the festival located around the old part of town.
It was laid out almost exactly as I remember it with stands located even in the exact same spot. Last year we went on a weekend at nighttime and it was absolutely packed (though lit up and lovely). This time we went on a weekday and it was much less crowded (though still bustling – I mean, if you have chocolate for sale, people will come!).
We warmed ourselves up with mugs of mulled wine and made our way through the festival-lined streets leading up to the Marktplatz. We were offered lots of delicious samples – lemon-flavoured chocolate, a type of honey cake, a small baking chocolate wafer and a couple other little bites.
